The exercise:
Write two haiku about: a power outage.
Power went out at work this afternoon, but not until there was about half an hour left in our day. Not sure if we would have got to go home early if it had gone dark closer to lunch, but I like to think that's what would have happened.
So mostly it was just a nuisance.

I hope the outage was short-lived, since I'm sure it wasn't just your office
(the town-hall?) that was affected. What's the weather like at the moment, as I imagine you've had been sent home pretty quickly with no power if there's no heat either in a Canadian winter!
My busy days this week seem to be yesterday and today, so I'm hoping that Thursday is quite relaxing to compensate for it. It's Ukrainian Christmas then, so there's a chance :)
The prompt made me think of the linked song straight away!
Power outage
Gremlins chew cables
Winter snow threatens the town
The power goes out.

The kids have drained me,
I collapse on the sofa --
A power outage.
Greg - it hit a good chunk of the town on the west side of the lake, but not all of it. It's been a pretty mild winter so far - the highs this week are forecast to be hanging around plus 5 degrees.
Hah, two very apt haiku. I don't think I can choose between them!
