How do we get a prompt of Video this morning then? Are you having to record your commute because of the record number of traffic offences you're witnessing? ;-)
I should probably note, before getting to my piece today, that Video is Latin for "I see".
Video "Who's eating faces?" said the aggressive little man that Hermione had identified as a MILF. He and Harry had reappeared from the end of the corridor and Harry was looking almost lively as he walked back down the corridor. "This is a nice house, I'll have none of that here!" "Who are you?" asked Ronnie, his voicing rising to an almost plaintive whine. "Why are you running around after Harry like his boyfriend?" Hermione quirked an eyebrow at that but neither Ronnie nor the MILF seemed to notice. "Seems like you should be explaining who you are," said the MILF. "This here's the Ramshackle, which was the property of Serious Abstract until his unfortunate and untimely death. Then it passed, by will and magic, to his named heir Master Harrington here. I am the Genius Loci of the Ramshackle, but you may call me Genius. And you will now tell me who you are." "Ronnie Weasel," said Ronnie weakly. "I'm Harry's -- Master Harrington's -- best friend. We share a dorm-room together." "Hermione Mangey," said Hermione. "I'm the best student at Pigpimples and I brought Harry here to see his inheritance. And I'm not frightened by bound spirits, either." Genius grinned. "Video," he said, pointing his finger. There was a noise like television static and then Hermione seemed somehow brighter than she had been before, standing out against the background of the house like the protagonist in a film. Genius studied her, his eyebrows lowered over his eyes and his lips protruding and pursed, and then he nodded. "What was that?" asked Ronnie. Hermione smoothed her clothes down. "Video," she said. "It's a scrying spell. Most of the books that discuss it record it as a hoax, a long-running fraud. They say it's a practical joke going back to Merlin himself. It's supposed to show the caster some details about the future of whatever it's cast on." Genius nodded. "It does too. It's a tricky spell that one, you have to know what you're doing and sometimes the best thing to do is to not cast it at all. But other times you get an edge that you can use." "And what did Video tell you?" asked Hermione, so sweetly that Ronnie started moaning softly under his breath. "It told me that I'd better tell you now that I'm not bound to the Ramshackle," said Genius. "I'm bound to Master Harrington here." Hermione's smile couldn't have vanished faster if Genius had slapped her with a wet fish.
Greg - I think I had the latest, greatest impeachment trial on my mind. I'm not expecting anything to come of it, so I'm trying not to get overly ticked off at the Republicans who are clearly not going to vote as the evidence and everything else strongly suggests that they should.
Because they're m... okay, moving on!
I think that I like Genius very, very much. I am happy that he has been added to this tale :D
