The exercise:

Write four lines of prose about: the first thing you need to know.

Survived the final day of property taxes. It was actually the slowest day of the week, but I think my average time per call was the longest - funny how the most difficult and/or complicated people wait until the last second to pay.

Also the heat is starting to lessen, and everyone is grateful for that. Still looking at plenty of beach time this weekend, but that's okay. Especially when it won't be out of desperation.

I think sometimes the people with the trickiest problems delay getting help because they can see how tricky the problem is and keep hoping that it'll magically get easier if they leave it for longer. And some of them definitely do it deliberately hoping that you'll get fed up with their mess and just let them get through without resolving it.
Enjoy the beach, and the reduction in heat!

The first thing you need to know
"The first thing you need to know," said Julie, Annie's best friend since childhood, "is that I am not your friend." Something about her seemed to writhe suddenly as she pointed at the Lamia that Annie and Julie had spent hours hunting and killing. "The second thing you need to know," and Julie seemed to be growing taller and thinner as she spoke, "is that Lamia's are rather good at shape-shifting." Annie started to scream as Julie continued, "and the last thing you need to know is that what you have just killed was your best friend."

Greg - that, uh, that kinda sounds like how I would deal with that situation. The first, non-deliberate one. Soooo... no comment.

Well, that's certainly an unsettling and upsetting four lines of prose. Well done?

Yes, well done.

But, you know, unsettling all the while.
