Daily writing prompts from June 9th, 2008 to December 31st, 2022

The exercise:
Write about: remembering.
Eh, why not. Might as well commemorate my little mental slip-up (I will admit to considering several less kind descriptions of whatever happened last night) with a couple days of related prompts.
Well, I think that's the first time in the blog's history that you've forgotten a day. Or at least admitted to forgetting a day :) I am glad though, as usually these silences mean something more serious has happened and I was just a touch worried :)
Remembering "What?" said Fabian, wishing again that he'd decided to sit down. He felt slightly nauseous. Dread grinned, and waved Rystin over. When the three of them were close; Rystin on the other side of the seats in front of Fabian, Dread did something that made everything else in the room seem sparklier. A chill settled on the back of Fabian's neck and over his arms and he shuddered. "Privacy shield," said Dread. Rystin looked around them as though seeing something that Fabian couldn't. "I remember discussions of these," he said. His hand reached out to stroke something that Fabian still couldn't see. "Ways of sealing off part of the world temporarily is how they're described in the elven literature. You've... invoked death somehow; this barrier is entirely negative energy, isn't it?" Dread looked ridiculously pleased. "Yes! It's unstable of course, so it won't last very long, and it's entirely environmentally friendly as it basically dissipates into water vapour and breathable air, with a fine dusting of carbon--" "That's lovely," said Fabian, knowing how Dread hated being interrupted. "But if it doesn't last long, shouldn't we use it for its intended purpose?" "He's just grumpy," said Dread to Rystin, seemingly ignoring Fabian. "We will need to, ahem, borrow the Staff of Five Elements when the Maestro's done for the day and go and see what's in the Hall of Sunset that's got everyone so excited. You in?" Fabian looked appalled. "That's not how you ask someone to join you in a potentially dangerous venture that's probably illegal to boot!" he said. "He's grumpy, remember," said Dread to Rystin. "You in?" Fabian choked on the words in his throat as they tried to force their way out and he had no idea which of six things he should say first. Rystin patted his shoulder. "I should say no," he said. "Absolutely no, no way, under no circumstances." "See...?" wheezed Fabian. "But I'm saying yes," said Rystin, patting Fabian's shoulder a little more. "Remember to breathe, Director. In, Out. In, Out. I want to know what's in there too. My people deserve advance warning of whatever might come out of this. Without knowing that there's a key of the Halls of Sunset just been discovered." "We all need advance warning," said Dread grimly. "I rather suspect that the Maestro will be playing with his toy deep into the night tonight, so let's plan a trip for tomorrow evening."

Greg - I've probably forgotten a day here and there. But my apologies for causing you worry, even if it was only a little.
Hah, Rystin and Dread working together might be my favorite part of this story. It's hard to pick a favorite, obviously, but I think this is it.
