The exercise:
Let us write about: fall in the orchard.
So you can submit local weather pictures to The Weather Network here in Canada, and I finally decided to give it a go last night. I was quite pleased when my very first one made the cut.
NaNoWriMo is off to a good start. I'm already over 2,000 words, but I'm hell bent on equaling my first day total from last year, so the first chapter will go up a bit later.
Between yesterday and today, we've almost managed to get the rest of the subfloor put in - just three small pieces to go! I'm a bit worried about my word count for Wednesday though, since I'm helping a guy we've hired install our windows for most of the day. I'm sure I'll figure something out.
Update: first day's writing is up now.
Update: first day's writing is up now.
Mine:
The leaves are turning,
The apples have gone;
I wander the rows
Hearing autumn's song.
It's time for a rest,
A long wintry nap;
A time for warm soup
And soft wooly caps.
Spring's return will come
Before we're ready;
But for now I stroll
Amidst fall's beauty.

The exercise:
What a beautiful Fall day here in Vancouver. To celebrate, today's starter is: the colors of Fall.
Mine:
The sun sets the tree on fire;
I hold my breath and admire
The brown, orange, yellow and red
Of Fall's vivid new attire.
The tree stands taller in new threads
Even as a lone leaf it sheds,
Swaying gracefully down to me
And landing gently on my head.
A breeze sets more leaves flying free:
Adrift in a ruby red sea,
Lost in a dark rainbow mire -
The stark beauty of Fall's debris.

The exercise:
Today's starter is: the first day of fall.
Mine:
Fall has arrived, the leaves are turning
Soon fireplaces will be burning
Get out your sweaters and your hoodies
Not long now 'til trick or treat goodies
T'is the season for pumpkins and soup
Time to round up turkeys in their coop
Autumn returns with orange and brown
The harvest of good food from the ground
Farewell to summer's long sunny days
Welcome to autumn's short windy ways
Grab a good book, get comfy cozy
Cool winds will cause cheeks to be rosy
Enjoy the crisp fall air while it lasts -
Winter's frozen nights are coming fast
