The exercise:
Write two haiku about: family traditions.
Boys are still wearing themselves and their grandparents out. Was quite pleased to come home to find Max playing Scrabble with my mom tonight.
He was even more pleased to inform me later that he won (with some help).

You already know I like Scrabble and will approve of that. I'm guessing that your mom was taking it easy against Max though as the games you've played with her have sounded... competitive. Yes, that's probably the right word, competitive :)
One of those unpleasant reminders for you as well: there are about a week's worth of days left in March and no sign of the yearlong prompt yet :-/

That first family tradition is... rather unfortunate. Feels like a bigger story could be told around it too.
