The exercise:

Write four lines of prose about: an unusual courtship.

I dunno, I'm tired. Long week needed an oddball prompt to finish it off. Or something.

Heh, I think you ought to post your own writing to this prompt then! I hope the weekend is stress-free for you then and that next week is easier. What happened this week?
Now, an oddball prompt. I have no idea what someone as normal as me, with my usual bland characters and repetitive, recurring worlds, would do with it. Maybe Miss Sikh or Miss Hyde is thinking of getting married. Or maybe we should take a look at Sixticton's skinny thug and his idea of a courtship ritual? Then again, what would MacArthur try and romance, and how successful could he be? Or the Ilmatu, they're quite odd. What might love look like to them? Heh, I might even be tempted to wonder how Red and Ben would interpret the words shotgun wedding, especially with respect to Shanghai Suzie!
Hmm, Ilmatu....

An unusual courtship
"Ma'am, I'd like to ask for your daughter's hand in marriage."
"Just her hand?"
"Yes, ma'am, just her hand."
"Well, you're the third one to ask today, but since she's regrowing them with a healthy vigour, I suppose we can agree to that, yes."

Greg - just a lot going on at work and the end of a commuting week combining to tire me out. I do want to write on this one though... hmm.

And of course that's what you settled on. Sigh.

Well... you managed to deliver an enjoyable take on the prompt. I must be getting used to your... usual bland characters.

Okay, no planning ahead, just going for it.

Mine:

"What... what is that smell?"

"Jacob brought me another present - isn't it just so lovely? Isn't he just so lovely?"

"Is... herk... is that a titan arum?"
