The exercise:

Write four lines of prose about: decorations.

Worked this morning, then took the afternoon off to begin Christmas holidays a touch early. Not due back at work until January 3rd and while I wouldn't say that I was in need of the break, I am looking forward to the time away from the office.

I think this is the last Christmas week prompt, so let's see how I do with introducing the extra member of Death's Christmas party in just four lines :)
I noted you finished Out of the Woods: not a cheerful ending, but I think suitable for the piece. There's a hint of hope and I think Monica got what she needed, if not what she deserved. (You can add her to your list of character-murders ;-) I think I have been very unsuccessful in killing people in these year-longs; the very first one, back in Mejaran, was promptly resurrected by g2 as I recall). Great work!

Decorations
"This guy says he's here with the decorations," said Scuffles, bringing in a man who looked like he'd stepped out of a Vermeer painting. A broad, feathered hat was swept off the head, where it had been concealing the face in its shadow, and Moros bowed ironically, then held out a single reddish-gold star fit for the top of a Christmas tree.
"Decoration, singular," he said, "but I can guarantee you that it will outshine any other lights you might have around."
"Is he threatening to burn the farm down?" whispered Pestilence to Death.

Greg - thanks! It seemed like a fitting ending to me. And it's not murder, it's... something else. Preventative medicine? For the rest of the group?

Sure.

Ah, Moros. So kind of Death to invite(?) him. I'm sure the gifted decoration won't be a problem for anyone...
