The exercise:

Write two Halloween haiku.

Eh, why not...

Mine:

Cherubic faces
ask: Trick, or treat? Only fools
select the former.

Ghosts come to my door
all night; at least the neighbours
can see these ones too...

It's nice to have some haiku from you again! And it's good to see you sneaking up on the comments and stealth-killing them as you go too :) I'm looking forward to seeing how you handle the House of Mercy.
Well, I like both of these haiku, but the second one with its ghosts wins out for me today. I can definitely see worried neighbours recounting the besheeted children after you claim there's four more than there should be!

Hallowe'en haiku
Bats, snakes, filthy rats --
I asked "Is it Hallowe'en?"
She, surprised, said "No."

The door between worlds
Opens on Hallowe'en. We
pray it doesn't stick.

Greg - yes, back on the comment hunt again. And thank you for the kind words on my haiku! It was nice to be back writing them again.

Ooh, tough to pick between these two. That ending on the second one, though... I think it wins the day this time around.
