The exercise:

Write four lines of prose about something that is: delayed.

The boys didn't have school today, and Monday is Family Day here in BC, so they went down to Osoyoos for a sleepover. Which allowed Kat and I the opportunity to have a slightly delayed Valentine's dinner out.

We'll be joining them tomorrow afternoon for our niece Emersyn's 6th birthday celebration on the farm.

I think there's often something nice about delaying a commercial celebration like Valentine's Day a little; you get a better choice of restaurant, better food because there aren't 30 other couple all ordering from the same menu, and less expectations (and rose-sellers or gypsy violinists or reformed serial killers... the list is endless). I hope you have suitably romantic fun :)
And then more fun, of a slightly less refined nature, at Emersyn's birthday!

Delayed
"This the delayed development class," said the Headmaster as he showed the parent-group around WrongStart, "which in the pre-enlightened days were regarded as the thickos and sent out to do carpentry, car-mechanics and hairdressing."
"How old are those students?" asked a father, frowning slightly at what appeared to be an adult-education class.
"The average age is 43," said the Headmaster gently chivvying the group away from the window and on to the rest of the tour before they could ask more awkward questions. "They're not allowed to graduate until they can pass a basic exam."

Greg - very true. And hah, yes we did, to both :)

Haha... hah... hmm. 43, hey? Interesting choice of age there...
