The exercise:

Write a four line poem about: getting away.

Before turning up for the birthday festivities Kat and I went snowshoeing for the first time this winter. We've been wanting to go for a while now but childcare options have been pretty limited.

It was good to get up in the mountains and have some time together without the boys, but we're also glad to have them back home with us tonight.

Snowshoeing sounds fun, especially given how beautiful where you live is :) I hope you had a fantastic day doing it and your legs aren't too sore afterwards! I am puzzled though; if watching films like Mrs. Doubtfire and Good Morning Vietnam have taught us anything, it's that you can just build a snow-nanny and leave the children with her. She'll come to life, take them on a life-threatening adventure to a frozen Jumanji, unleash an ancient curse on the world, undo it, and return just before you do. And melt in the morning sun the following day causing minor flooding downtown.
I think have instructions for making a snow-nanny somewhere. (I mean better ones that the first set which just suggested mounding snow over an older woman who couldn't run away fast enough.)

I am not sure how but last week a chaplain appeared out of nowhere -- it clearly should have been cartographer, but I have no idea how I made that switch and never noticed. So I've put it back now so it's correct :)

Getting away
Said the cartographer, skilled with remorse,
“Time’s getting away but I have a sextant!”
That’s the cartographer charting a course,
In the back of the hearse, all thin and elegant.

Greg - I appreciate your snow-nanny suggestion and will try to implement before the last of the snow melts away and Spring arrives properly.

And... yes, that's quite the switcheroo. I figured the prompt required a chaplain but I can see now you're doing just fine without one :)
