The exercise:

With September drawing to a close as unexpectedly as it arrived on the scene, write four lines of prose about: a graceful exit.

I think September lasted as long as I expected it to, to be honest, but it sounds like yours ran through at quite an unexpected rate! I hope October lingers a little longer for you :)

A graceful exit
Grey rain, probably not radioactive but it was better not to stand out in it, fell from a nearly black sky and thunder rumbled ominously in the distance. DR Congo stood on the rooftop of the Fourth Commonwealth Hospital where everyone thought he was Dr Congo and no-one suspected that his parents had made the odd decision to call him "Democratic Republic of the Congo" as a baby and wondered if jumping off to the concrete walkway seven stories below counted as a graceful exit. Then he yawned, so widely that his jaw creaked and his face felt pained from the stretch, and wondered if he'd fall asleep on the way down and end up bouncing into a hospital bed with broken bones instead of splashing into a messy grave.
"Paging Dr Congo, Paging Dr Congo, Dr Congo please attend Ward IX," came the familiar mechanical voice of the tannoy and he pushed aside thoughts of an exit and turned to go back inside.

Greg - well here we are at the end of October and... no, I'd say things didn't slow down much. Maybe November will take its time?

This is really good. I wonder if he's any good at being a doctor, or just competent enough that nobody notices he's not properly trained?
