The exercise:

The first Saturday of the new year has arrived already. You taking a break from the epic poems this year, Greg?

I guess we're about to find out.

Write a four line poem about: a ghost town.

It's too early to tell if this will an epic-poem year or not :-p After all, last year's wasn't planned, it just turned out that the first three prompts all produced something that could kind of pull together (and you can see that, I think: they're all short and not well-focused for all I tried to make them a bit more foreshadowing :) ) For now, no, no epic poem. But if you point out in a few weeks time that everything's starting to cohere again then I might take up the challenge :-D

The ghost town
Sunday, 3pm and the sun is shining,
Low in the sky and catching pedestrians in their eyes.
I turn the corner, this one, like this,
And the streets fade to grey and ghosts come out to play.

Greg - fair enough, but, I mean, this is an opening that is just begging to be expanded upon. You don't have to, obviously, and I'm tempted to encourage you *not* to just to give you a break from what you've been doing for the last two years (!), but... okay, clearly I'm feeling conflicted.

So I shall just say that I hope you make the best decision for you and your sanity :)
