The exercise:

Write four lines of prose about: leaving no trace behind.

Well, that's the goal at any rate. We managed to get most of the packing done tonight, so tomorrow morning will consist of the remaining packing and then the tidy up.

Then the road and ferry ride to Vancouver. Wish us luck with the ferry part - it's a long weekend here.

Good luck with the ferry ride!

I packed a lot of stuff this morning; I'm not leaving till Monday but general-rubbish collection is today and Tuesday so I wanted to get as much stuff as I know is being thrown out gone without leaving it out for other people to tut over for a day. I'll still have a single (hopefully small!) black bag to throw out on Monday I guess, but at least it will be small and ideally not have anything that might rot in it.

Leaving no trace behind
The thing about identity theft is that when you move on, when you come to change your name, your history and your life, you want to leave as little behind as possible for anyone to see the transformation. Fire is good; find someone your height and build and tie them up and burn the house down around them. The police will probably assume that it was you in the fire since that's the most plausible scenario. And since by that point I was the county forensic investigator I was able to help that belief grow a little....

Greg - thanks :)

Really feels like our lives could have been viewed in a split-screen toward the ending of a movie, the way the similarities worked out. I suspect you were flying out rather than taking the ferry though.

Yup, that plan all makes perfect sense to me. Not sure how the escape from the forensic investigator will go, but I'm sure something will come along to help make it work...
