The exercise:

Write about: slowing things down.

Realizing we were not operating at a sustainable pace, we took things a whole lot easier today. The boys hung out with my parents this morning and early afternoon, Kat and I had some quiet time, and then we took them to the beach for the afternoon.

An after dinner walk through some nearby woods capped off the day quite nicely.

I'm quite fascinated by who or what was going to break at the pace you were operating now :) I'm guessing that you were hurrying the boys around to see so much that they were starting to have trouble remembering who they were, which gave you flashbacks of the time you nearly went into a diabetic coma, and when the flashing lights and noises all subsided and you could think clearly again you discovered the bodies.

So... many... bodies....

Which, of course, explains the trip to the woods as you went on a family outing to bury rolls of carpet because that's environmentally friendly. And if each carpet weighed the same as a body, and you had to hire a large van to transport them all, well, that's just how environmentally conscious you are :)

Slowing things down
Alecto, whose name means unceasing in rage
Takes this moment to settle into a chair.

Armchairs of the Fates, naturally, are austere.

Slowly his eyelids close over emerald eyes.
Nemesis sighs and sets her list aside; she will wait.
Alecto is slowing things down, but even a Fate
Is entitled to rest once in a while.
Low snores erupt from his chest;
She finds this amusing and cackles delightedly to herself.

Picking up her list once more, her pen writes
Actions and orders that Alecto will grudgingly follow,
Causing regret and revenge in equal measure.
Even the Fates must bow to the Gods.

Greg - hahaha, oh my. I would suggest we were all heading for a breakdown, which would have been expressed in... well, very similar fashions, I think. Tempers growing foul leading to arguments and general refusal to cooperate with any sort of plan.

Regardless, it was a wise decision to stop trying to do all the things in not enough time to do them all.

Ooh, this is a fascinating relationship at work here. Would love to see more of these two 'working' together.
