The exercise:
Write about: air.
Took the boys to check out the planes at the Comox Air Force Museum's Heritage Air Park on the way to the beach this morning. They, needless to say, had an absolute blast at both locations.
So, will Max be building an aeroplane of his own or are you being pressured to buy one for him? I can only hope you were able to convince him to build a test model first out of sand at the beach :)
Air "We don't take cash," she says, Her eyes downcast, Waiting for the explosion of wrath That inevitably comes When a customer is disappointed. Instead there's silence, A momentary pause as the universe Decides what to do next. Then, the inrush of air into lungs, Sucked through gaps in teeth So sharply, so quickly, so violently That the gums are torn, sliced by air, And a fine mist of volatilised blood Goes everywhere. "You'll need to pay for that," she says, Quietly, without malice, Though it's lurking there in her soul. She gestures at the display of pastries Now speckled with red that isn't raspberry. "We take all major credit cards."

Air
"We don't take cash," she says,
Her eyes downcast,
Waiting for the explosion of wrath
That inevitably comes
When a customer is disappointed.
Instead there's silence,
A momentary pause as the universe
Decides what to do next.
Then, the inrush of air into lungs,
Sucked through gaps in teeth
So sharply, so quickly, so violently
That the gums are torn, sliced by air,
And a fine mist of volatilised blood
Goes everywhere.
"You'll need to pay for that," she says,
Quietly, without malice,
Though it's lurking there in her soul.
She gestures at the display of pastries
Now speckled with red that isn't raspberry.
"We take all major credit cards."
Greg - he finds them interesting but doesn't seem to have much interest in owning or even flying in one. Which is fine, just fine.
That was certainly an unexpected take on the prompt. Well done, on that account alone, but also you wove the tale masterfully.
