The exercise:

Write four lines of prose about: turbulence.

Had a bit of a bouncy flight to Calgary. The return was much smoother, despite dire warnings on the ground from the pilot about weather conditions in Calgary and a jet stream that had caused some bumpy flights already that day.

I like turbulence, but I'm in a minority. I like it mostly because of the way other people react to it, and I think I may have told you that before :) I am pleased you had a smoother flight back though, I'm sure it was easier on you all :)

Please forgive me playing with the spammers again; it's just too tempting.

Turbulence
The Navier-Stokes equations for turbulent flow are pinned up on the wall of my office, which incidentally has water up to the height of the desk in it at the moment. I'm sat on the desk, holding my tablet up and away from the water, praying that the battery doesn't die before it finishes computing a numerical solution to them. The only good news we've had today is that the President has been harpooned by an Icelandic whaling vessel while playing Waterpolo on the (submerged) White House lawn to show how doubleplusgood his hurricane-relief efforts have been. The solution to the turbulent flow equations won't halt the storm, but it might tell us how much longer before the storm dies down....

Oops, forgot the link: Navier-Stokes. Skip the equations and go the text first :)

Greg - a smoother return flight means the boys are still willing to fly places, so yeah it was an all around good thing :)

The clear highlight of this is the harpooning, but it's all pretty good :D
