The exercise:

Merry Christmas! It's been a crazy year. I hope your holiday season has brought with it some peace and joy and a reminder that better days are coming.

Write four lines of prose about: there is a star that shines tonight.

I'm actually fairly happy leaving this week's Christmas interlude where it is -- I think there's no way to top the Scarecrow's seasonal journey :) So....

There is a star that shines tonight
"There's a bright spot, Captain," said Vizile, staring at his computer screen as though it was about to bite him. "Did you order any scans of the local star, by any chance? Only the Butcher tends to destabilise yellow and green class stars and send them supernova."
"There is a star that shines tonight!" said Captain Rascal with a cheery grin.

[The Butcher is the ship's scanning device; named by Cockney Rhyming Slang it's full name is the Butcher's Hook (=look).]

Greg - haha, fair enough.

That seems like a rather... dangerous scanning device to make use of.
