The exercise:

Write two haiku about: the predator.

My (temporarily) new favorite hockey team took a 2-1 lead in their second round series this evening. Montreal is matched up against Boston, for whom I need no extra motivation to cheer against. Hell, I was hoping they'd lose in the first round.

Anyway. So far so good for the Canadiens.

Did some more seeding in the garden this morning before pulling weeds in our strawberry patch. After dinner I went back out to do a little more seeding and spread some organic fertilizer.

Slowly but surely things are getting done around here.

Mine:

My talons are sharp,
My eyes are always watching;
There is no escape.

*     *     *

Run, my little pet.
Go! As fast as you can! I
need the exercise.

Well done on your new choice of hockey team! With successes like this you should start betting on them ;-)
"Spread around some organic fertiliser" sounds like a euphemism....
I think I like your first haiku better today, though the second one has a definite appeal to it. And speaking of predators... the puppy is now just old enough to start exhibiting pack behaviour with his mother. While walking them yesterday we found a lot of crows sitting around in the park, so of course the dogs wanted to chase them off. They're just starting to be co-operative about it, using pincer movements to try and catch their prey in the middle :)

The predator
The quiet man has
online anonymity;
he's grooming a child.

-------
Daddy-long-legs like,
she skitters across the walls,
Blind, fast and lethal.

[I thought I hadn't mentioned the Ilmatu in a while :)]

Greg - hah, it does sound like one, doesn't it? Hmm...

And good to see you're training your dogs well :D

Your first one is terribly creepy, while your second is a fine reminder of how terrifying the Ilmatu are!
