I have a feeling that your scheduler might have gone wrong since this seems to be a day early (for you; it’s perfectly fine for me). I am hoping that fire starter does not refer to your annual tradition of choking in smoke from forest fires in the area :)

The fire starter
Maureen and Theresa stared at their opponents intently, who were staring just as intently back. The first board of a new match with new opponents was always a fretful time while you tried to figure out how well they knew their two- and three-letter wordlists and if they were prone to playing cleverly obscure words to trick you into a false call of ‘not-a-word’. Both nodded imperceptibly when June, a matriarch with steel-grey curly hair and tortoise-shell framed glasses played PYROSIS.
“We’ve found the fire-starter,” murmured Maureen as Theresa, after several moments of thought, responded with ATARAXY above the end of PYROSIS and neatly captured a first triple-word-score.

Greg - yeah, I guess I forgot to switch the date when I scheduled this one. Woopsies.

And no, so far the only nearby fires have not blown smoke our way. So far so good in that regard.

Ah, new opponents. Excellent.

Though, to be clear, if pyrosis was the opening word, it would be impossible for ataraxy to hit the triple word square when played above the s.

I'm sorry that I had to clear that up. Scrabble nerd mode... off.
