The exercise:

Write a four line poem about: recognition.

Feeling mostly recovered today, just the occasional headache. So of course the wildfire smoke came rolling in late afternoon...

At least it cleared up fairly quickly and we could breathe relatively fresh air before the boys went to bed.

Well done on the comment sweep! That's an impressive amount of catching up you've done -- I hope it wasn't too arduous :)
You asked somewhere back there what kind of disease I usually catch -- disappointingly it's just colds and nothing else. But I did read recently (in the last two months) that there's some study completely recently that shows that people who get a lot of colds tend not to get other illnesses, and the theory is that by catching every cold going they are keeping their immune systems poised to respond to anything else that comes along. That's all well and good, and it's nice to only catch colds in one sense, but... at the start of every cold I kind of wish I didn't.

Also, on the Dr. Fraud story -- I might provide a bit more backstory to him at some point, but I think the continuation there will be dropping the Sphere of Annihilation into the worlds of different characters and seeing how they react to it. Hopefully MacArthur won't break anything too badly...

Recognition
Now there are new things that must be done,
So back and forth I run, carrying iron and steel and powder.
Cannons are assembled on the deck of this old wreck
And I recognise the onset of St Elmo’s Fire.

Greg - thanks! It wasn't too bad, I just made sure to not overdo it in any one go, just kept pecking away at it. I was surprised when I got within a week, actually.

That's quite interesting, I hadn't heard that. And I can fully appreciate that while you're in the midst of a cold you would not have any appreciation whatsoever for the perks.

Hah, that would make for an interesting chain of continuations.

Ah, so not friends with the second ship, I see.
