The exercise:

Write four lines of prose about: when you put it that way...

Just realized my total driving time to work this week was less than what I did in one day while working in Osoyoos.

Ah, you're catching up on comments again, which is a pleasant surprise for me this morning. I'm glad that you're approving, overall least, of where the story is going and liking the details. I find it oddly easy to write about the Maestro and the mage fighting and I'm certainly not looking at any of my coworkers when I say that. Definitely not. As for being invisible -- no, these were people I was physically in the office with, though they seemed incapable of seeing me at times, and claimed I sneaked up on them at other times. I will just quietly assume they're going blind and deaf I think.
Good luck finding a comfortable route home! And I know you said the job was nearer, but I didn't realise you meant about 80% closer to home; that's pretty impressive.
And I shall look forward to this year's year-long prompt :)

When you put it that way...
"Father, might I ask why you're laying chunks of -- well, surprisingly large -- raw meat out here?" The verger, who had finally found Father Thomas behind the church, looked around the snowy grounds with the graveyard off to the left and the children's playground to the right.
"Romans 12:20," said Father Thomas promptly, "therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink; for in so doing thou shall heap coals of fire upon his head; I figured I'd solve our wolf-problem."
As the howls started up in the not-distance-enough the Verger tugged at Father Thomas's elbow to get him to come back inside and said, "when you put it that way it sounds persuasive Father, but have you actually tried reading the Bible to a hungry wolf?"

Greg - hah, well I'm certainly not reminded of coworkers I've had in the past either, so we're on the same page I think...

I cannot shake the feeling that the either the graveyard or the playground are related to the hunks of meat being put out to feed the wolves... regardless, I am happy to see that the verger is still around, attempting to keep an eye out for Father Thomas and his well-being.
