The boy genius Miss Armadillo was the teacher for Creative Writing and, on her own time, shipped various of her pupils. Although she was supposed to marking their essays on Borges's Funes the memorious ("why didn't you make them read it in the original Spanish?" Miss Snippet had demanded when she saw the homework) she was actually writing fan-fiction of Alex ('the boy genius') and Moxie('the girl with inexplicable polio') instead. She sighed, just a little, as she described how Alex devised leg-braces that were a thinly disguised version of seven-league boots, and finally set her pen aside. It a shame, she thought, that they were all still only five and six.
