Leaving Mallorca this morning; the flight is at 15:00 but the transit time through Zurich is less than hour, so the overall flight time is only 5 hours (about twice what it would be direct) which is about as good as I can get. No-one wants to fly from Malta to Mallorca or back, it seems... and given they're both Mediterranean islands that's not that surprising. Because it's all Schengen the passport checks are done at the start and then not again which really helps -- I can just walk from one gate in Zurich to the other, so a 40 minute transfer window is actually plenty of time.

I was expecting the year-long prompt today to be honest, so I'll expect it tomorrow now :)

Fast
The sky is grey with clouds and smoke,
Rain holds back like unshed tears.
People scurry, heads hung low,
The war has lasted years.

When fighting started hopes were high --
Modern warfare must be fast.
But months slipped by and turned to years,
The war just seemed to last.

Drones hover overhead,
So soldiers watch from far away.
Missiles launch from remote sites
To ruin these people's day.

Computers tally our lives and theirs,
And take decisions lightning fast.
Choosing who will see the future
...and who is now the past.

The sirens sound and no-one moves,
Too much hope is lost and gone
They stand and stare into the air
Waiting for the final bomb.

Greg - considering where you're going to and from, that's quite reasonable I think.

Beautifully dark. Well done.
