The exercise:

Write four lines of prose that have something to do with: hunger.

Bringing raspberries, apricots, apples, cherries, plums, broccoli, cabbage, mint plants, and photography stuff to the market tomorrow. Lots of apricots (18 crates) and bits and pieces of everything else. There's a car show going on this weekend next door to us, so hopefully it'll be pretty busy.

I should probably get some sleep.

Mine:

There is a gnawing in my gut, as though a wild animal resides there and it is scavenging for food. It is finding nothing and that only serves to make it angry. I am helpless before its increasingly frantic search.

"Yeah, I guess I will go with the lunch special... give me those dozen donuts with my soup and sandwich."

That sounds like a perfect set-up -- lot's of good food that you're selling, and people who will be gradually getting hungrier as they walk around looking at cars. I hope it all goes well :)
Wow, you've got a very visceral description of hunger there, I'm impressed. As well that anyone could eat a dozen doughnuts, let alone with soup and sandwich! I hope you're not actually that hungry as you go to sleep... ;-)

Hunger
The stone idols lined the walls of the study; each was about twenty-eight centimetres tall and though they were distinct, they were all clearly of the same entity or being.
"Hunger," said the bishop. He was white-haired for all he wasn't thirty yet, and he sat down in his chair as though pained. "Something you probably thought was a sensation you got after not eating for a while, but is in fact a manfestation of a demon in this world."

Greg - I honestly don't remember what was going on when I wrote this. I was probably hungry at some point during that day, I would imagine.

I quite like the setting you manage to conjure with minimal details here. I find myself imagining what the stone idols look like. And also fearing any further explanation of the hunger demon...
