The exercise:

Write a four line poem about: impediments.

Mine:

Jose lived in an isolated beach hut,
The air full of sun and... salt.
Which, when combined with the wind-blown sand, caused poor
Buddy to grind to a... halt.

Well, it's surprising to see Buddy stopped, but I bet it's only briefly! I was also intrigued when I went back to mind to find a next verse, to see that we actually used the same rhyme idea of salt and halt -- mine last week and yours this week -- though you've done a much better job of making them work. In fact, I'm slightly envious of how much better you've done it :(

Impediments
Impediments are all around: dark rocks
On which a ship can run aground, pale sand-
Bars where old mermaids sing; and far too close
The whirlpool called The King. St. Elmo’s fire

[Yeah, this one will continue over to next week, so you'll have to wait till them to find out more about St Elmo's fire]

Greg - believe it or not, the salt and halt thing was entirely unintentional. Maybe I'd read yours and it stuck in the back of my mind, but I certainly hadn't meant to do that. Funny, how the brain works sometimes.

Well, most times, really.

I don't mind the wait. I just hope whatever prompt I ended up using for the following Saturday was workable for you!
