I am pleased that you've discovered that Samual isn't dead (if I say yet as well, is that a spoiler, or does it prevent this from being a spoiler?) It was genuinely a minor character that got splattered this time round :)
The underdog The tension around the Scrabble board was palpable: Theresa was back in the game though her eyes rolled alarmingly now and then and she drooled a little from the corner of her mouth, and no-one held more than four tiles on their rack. She and Maureen had 312 and 320 points respectively, and Ellen, who was being kept under scrutiny now, had somehow managed to claw her way to 309. Theresa sighed and placed one of her two remaining tiles to make both OF and FOR, claiming 11 points to take her to 323. Ellen smiled, just a touch grimly and placed three of her four down to create UNDERDOG and GI; fifteen more points taking her to 324.
[Bonus fifth line if you want it: Now all eyes were on Maureen, staring at her like she was the only piece of meat left in the stewpot.]
Greg - I was aware that you'd not definitively killed him off, but I wasn't daring enough to hope that he'd might yet survive. Again, though, I am deeply happy that he did.
Damn it all, I am loving this Scrabble tale. Every bit of it.
