The exercise:

Write four lines of prose about: surprise clear skies.

We had a much appreciated reprieve from the smoke today, in both Penticton and Osoyoos. Even had a little bit of rain as I was driving home.

That sounds like a very nice day indeed, and it's always good to see people appreciating a little rain when it falls :) I hope the clear skies are a prediction for the future for you!

And I know what I said yesterday, but your prompt today really only leads in one direction, so we have a coda for the last two weeks of tales....

Surprise clear skies
"Who would have thought they would self-organise?" said Celeste, gazing upwards at the clear skies. A moment later something black and spherical, seemingly the size of the moon, passed across the sky moving quickly from west to east.
"They're keeping the skies nice and clear," said Jack, sipping from her wine-glass as his was already empty and the waiter was flirting with an older gentleman seated by the patio doors.
"And us trapped on the ground," said Celeste, as a second Sphere of Annihilation appeared in the sky and patrolled southwards.

Greg - it's actually been quite clear and fresh-aired here the last couple of days. A much needed, much appreciated change.

Huh, that's an interesting use for the Spheres. I suppose the worthiness of the trade off depends on one's point of view, but I think I'd be okay staying on the ground.
