The exercise:
Your Two Haiku Tuesday prompt this week: sight.
This morning I had the pleasure of getting some laser surgery done on my eyes to correct an issue I've been having for a while now. It seemed to go well and now I'm back to being stuck at home for another two days. Work must love me.
Side note: it is my intention that this is the last time the word surgery will appear in the top half of my posts. I've had enough, thank you.
Mine:
My eyes are open
and all they want to look at
is, quite simply, you.
* * *
Like, I dunno Jess.
A blind date? Like, how will we,
like, find each other?

Both haikus are good; the first is neat and pretty, and the second one... well, both amuses and reminds me how proud I am of my age demographic's sophisticated language use... ><
Anyway. Moving on.

The finishing line
Is in close grasp, in close sight...
and yet, oh so far.

Oh, don't fret over
this sudden lack of vision...
everything's just fine...

I was just thinking. I've had an idea for a Lunacy bit brewing haphazardly in the back of my mind... I need to tweak it a bit, but I'm thinking it's well overdue, no?
(and to think I was bugging you about taking such a long time to follow up...)
More surgery? You must have a fancy for a surgeon, that's all I can say! Or perhaps it's the other way around, some surgeon somewhere can't look at you without getting an urge to operate. I think that may not be such a good thing....
If I were stuck at home for two days like that, work would expect me to telecommute....
But, overall, I hope the surgery has worked and you're pleased with it!
I prefer your first haiku, but your second made me smile.
@g2: Again, I prefer your first haiku, but I'd quite like to see the story behind the second haiku continued!
Sight
Your bed-head and your
Messed-up hair: You truly are
A sight for sore eyes
-------
Storm-swept skies brighten,
Cranes take flight, warmed by sunlight,
I watch gratefully
Too bad about the surgery, Marc. I hope your recovery continues to go well.
Look in my eyes now
Really look -- can you see me,
Who I truly am?
Yes -- I can see you
The true self shining behind
Your serious eyes.
g2 - I like your second haiku best :)
And I'd love to see Lunacy continued! Although I reckon my general not bugging you about how long its been might come in handy when I take just as long to follow yours up :D
Greg - your second haiku was pretty much exactly what I was looking for out of this prompt. Gratitude for the gift of sight.
Morganna - thank you, so far so good :)
And I do like me some connected haiku - nicely done.
Thanks, Marc.
