The exercise:

Today's topic is: the disappearance.

Mine:

It's getting late, where did they go?
The young children, with the Play-Doh?
They must be here, please don't say no!

What were they wearing, do you know?
Maybe they're watching their new show,
The one about the girl's blue bow.

No, no! I have searched high and low.
But wait! There, a little hand, oh!
Why must they play in the sand so?

He sat at the long table, unsure of his place. They were all familiar faces; yet, somehow changed by the passing moments of unspoken words -as though silence had solidified the space between them. He smiled pleasantly and ate his beans politely.

They were all very interesting, intelligent, humourous, kind -the stuff of friends. And they were all indeed very friendly, and they were all very nice acquaintances.

He stood up from the table as the laughter rolled -waves pushing against his back and quickening his pace as he washed out the back door.

That was wonderfully... unsettling.

I was going to write 'creepy' but it didn't quite express the right sentiment. I think 'unsettling' does the trick though.
