The exercise:

Welcome to 09/09/09! What could possibly be the prompt today? Well perhaps it shall be... the number nine!

Yes, that seems appropriate.

Mine:

Nine times I called
But you answered none;
Nine months I stalled
Before we were done;
Nine pills I took
Between tears I cried;
Nine times I shook
By the time I died.

Edit: Well... that's a happy little poem, isn't it?

Heh, it's not your most cheerful poem ever, this is true. But it does clearly exemplify the theme :)

Sorry about Tagged by the way, I should have checked with you first. I haven't read your new chapter yet, that's next on my list after writing this!

Nine

Nine sides, a nonagon
Panopticon:
This prison in which I'm held.
Nine guards watching me,
Relentlessly,
Doing as they're told.
Nine peals of the prison bell,
Says this hell
Will soon come to an end
Nine lives, dispassionately,
needlessly,
wasted for a friend.

Geez, this is just a regular happy-nine-related-poem fest, isn't it?

Nine
On the brink
of ten.

Ten
threshold of the
Double digits.

But
One must hit
nine first

Before
you can collect
two numbers.
- - - - -
I'm not sure what it's supposed to mean, or even it's supposed to mean anything... ah well. It's something...

Well, in keeping with the lively theme ...

We promised
together.
Many years
weathered.
I gave:
Nine.

Never again,
you said.
Another chance,
you begged.
I gave:
Nine.

Pictures they
asked me.
Proving what
they see.
I gave:
Nine.

Charges have
been laid
Mercy’s all
you prayed.
I gave:
Nein.

Greg - no worries on Tagged, I just wasn't expecting you to post again. And I really think the two chapters work better than one on its own.

I quite like the rhythm and flow of yours.

g2 - I'm not sure if/what it means either, but I still like it :)

Monica - geez, I really set the tone on this one. But that's really fantastic, with the ending stanza being the obvious favorite.

Very well done indeed!
