The exercise:

It's been too long since I've done my favorite writing exercise so I'm bringing it back today.

So: scroll through your iPod, or grab a CD and pick a random track, and use the very first line of the song as the first line of your writing. It can be a poem or short story or whatever you want.

Mine:

Jack Johnson - Fall Line

By the way, you know
That hope will make you strange,
Wherever you go,
Because we’re scared of change.
We like things the same
As they have always been;
When you know the game,
You bend the rules to win.

But do not falter,
Carry on and be strong;
This course you’ll alter,
These methods you’ll prove wrong.
Though you stand alone,
Know that your brash bravery
Will be widely known
And live on in history.

Hey! What up?

Just a quick suggestion...do you want to have people write on your blog? Send them an invitation so they can write- not just in the comments...
Let me know if you don't know how to do it and I'll show you:)
210 and counting...well just go ahead! great job...oh, and I see ppl are following you now!

We were born before the wind

He sat upon the mountain top
contemplating possibilities

A sigh that lasted only a moment
and for eons and eons echoed

There was nothing
There was everything

With what to fill the nothing
even he did not know

So he left everything simply be
And miracles happened

@Alya - for now I'm happy with the current format, thanks for the thought though :)

@Laura Jayne - oh, great song. And you painted a great little scene with your poem. Thanks again for stopping by!
